Attempt Break-in

Last Saturday daytime, August 2nd, there was an attempt break in Jalan Radin 4.

This is the back of the house. Notice that the grill was removed. Windows pane was removed (but pictures was taken after it has put back). The thieves did not manage to get in.

We have 2 gates at each end of the lanes. We have that for about few years. I felt safer with the gates.

On the day the break-in happened, one gate's lock went missing.

There are 2 possibilities.
1. It's an insider's job. There are a few house under renovation. The contractors do not lock their doors.
2. Outsider get through the back-lanes' gate which has no lock.

There are a few questions on my mind. How can one take out the grill and windows panes on broad day light and no one notice? How can the lock went missing with no trace of force entry? What can we do to make the back-lane safer?

Here is what I learnt. We should not assume back-lane's gates is 100% safe. Secure your grill, check if you need further securing. We have living here for 25 years, so things get old. Install motion sensor at the back.

I guess it is now the time to do some home renovation. You badly needed to increase the value and safety of your house before it's too late. When the market came crashing down, however, the ROI for home remodels went down substantially.
